TRANSCRIPT OF MINUTES OF METTING OF VOTERS TO INCORPORATE THE TOWN OF ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA.

Pursuant to public notice of a meeting to organize a Municipal Corporation, which said notice was published in the Zephyrhills Colonist, a weekly newspaper published in Pasco County, Florida, beginning with the Octo. 15th issue and being published each week for five consecutive weeks the last being Nov. 12, 1914, said meeting convened at the G.A.R. Hall in Zephyrhills, Tuesday Nov. 17th, 1914 at 7 o’clock P.M. at which meeting there were present the following qualified voter residing within the prescribed limits of territory proposed to incorporate, which will be more full described later:

The same being more than two thirds of the qualified voters residing within the territory proposed to incorporate.

Meeting was called to order by G.H. Gibson who was selected chairman of the meeting with R.L. Bryan Secretary, by due motion with second and so voted.

Thereupon said qualified voters proceeded to perfect the incorporation of the town of Zephyrhills, Florida, in accordance with the statute in such case made and provided and the public notice heretofore given, a copy of which is attached hereto, the vote was 65 For and 12 Against.

Thereupon it was moved and seconded that that [sic] the Corporate name of said town styled and known as “Town of Zephyrhills”, which motion was carried

Thereupon it was moved and seconded that the corporate seal of said town of Zephyrhills be ‘Town of Zephyrhills, Pasco County, Florida’, said seal to have in the center an emblem of hills with the sun rising over them, and a little girl whose hair is streaming as if fanned by a zephyr, which motion was carried.

The metes and bonds of said town of Zephyrhills were designated and described as follows, which upon motion was seconded and so voted: All of Section 11 and the north half of the north half of Section 14, in Township 26 South, Range 21 East, beginning at the northwest corner of Section 11, Tp. 26 S. R. 21 E., thence run East to the north-east corner of said section, thence run south to the southeast corner of the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter of Section 14, Tp. 26, S. R. 21 E. thence run due west to the southwest corner of the northwest quarter of northwest quarter of said Section 14, thence run due north to the northwest corner of said Section 11, to point of beginning, all in Pasco County, Florida.

The voters then proceeded to elect municipal officers for said town of Zephyrhills, as follow:

For Mayor, W.C. Boggs, received the majority of the votes and was declared elected Mayor.

For Alderman, it having been motioned and seconded that there be five members and so voted, N.L. Wright, W.J. McLaughlin, S.J. Lyon, A.D. Penry, and S.G. Allen, receiving the largest number of votes, were declared elected as aldermen.

For Clerk, P.T. Williams, receiving the majority of votes cast was declared elected as Clerk. For Marshall, P.E. Bobb, receiving the largest number of votes was declared elected as Marshall.

NOTICE OF MEETING TO ORGANIZE A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: In pursuance of section 1001 of the General Statutes of Florida, notice is hereby given that a meeting will be held at the G.A.R. hall in Zephyrhills, Pasco County, Florida, on November 17th, 1914 at 7 o’clock P.M. for the purpose of organizing a municipal government and selecting officers thereof for the town of Zephyrhills, Florida, consisting of the following territorial limits, viz. All of Section 11 and the North -1/2 of the north -1/2 of Section 14, in Township 26 South, Range 21 East, beginning at the northwest corner of Section 11, Township 26, South, Range 21 East, thence run east to the northeast corner of said section, thence run South to the southeast corner of the northeast quarter of northeast quarter of Section 14, Township 26 South Range 21 East, thence run due West to the southwest corner of the northwest quarter of northwest corner of said Section 11, Township 26 South, Range 21 East to point of beginning; all in Pasco County, Florida. Only registered voters residing within the proposed corporate limits are elegible [sic] to vote at said meeting. There shall be selected at said meeting a corporate name and seal for the municipality, and not more than 9 nor less than 5 aldermen who shall constitute and be known as the Town Council, also a mayor, Clerk and Marshall. STATE OF FLORIDA, PASCO COUNTY, Geo. H. Gibson being first and duly sworn deposes and says that he is the Publisher of The Zephyrhills Colonist, a legal newspaper published in said county and of general circulation, that the annexed notice was published in the regular and entire issue of each and every number during the period and time of publication; and that the notice was published in the newspaper proper and not in a supplement for 5 consecutive weeks the first publication being on the 15 day of Oct. 1914 and the last publication being on the 12 day of Nov. 1914.
