Trilby Baptist Church, also known as First Baptist Church, Trilby, was originally organized as Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in 1878 (compiler’s researched conclusion). That name remained through 1884. Then a member of South Florida Baptist Association, it became a member of Hernando Baptist Association when that HBA organized in 1885. In 1886, the church changed its name to Macon Baptist Church, which was then the name of the present-day Trilby community. In 1888, the church became a member of the newly-organized Pasco Baptist Association. In 1908, the Macon community changed its name to Trilby, and the church did the same.

(Research indicates Trilby Baptist Church was organized as Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in 1878 (1891-1893, 1895 PBA Statistics), petitioning membership in South Florida Baptist Association the following year. On March 18, 1885, the present-day land was deeded to the church trustees by Elijah and Mary McLeod. In 1885, when Hernando Baptist Association was formed, it then became a member of that association, still as Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In 1886, the church changed its name to Macon Baptist Church, still as a member of Hernando Baptist Association. In 1888, Hernando Baptist Association churches became members of the newly formed Pasco Baptist Association.

In 1908, when the Macon community changed its name to Trilby, Macon Baptist Church changed its name to Trilby Baptist Church. Per 1891-1893, 1895 Pasco Baptist Association statistics, Trilby Baptist Church was organized in 1878.)
