Historic Markers – Townsend House

TOWNSEND HOUSE CHURCH AND CEMETERY HISTORICAL MARKER. The “present building” described in the marker has been demolished. Directions to the cemetery: From Lake Iola Road, which becomes Spring Lake Road at the Pasco/Hernando County line, turn west on Dan Brown Hill Road, which follows the county line. Turn left (South) on to Townsend House Cemetery Road after about three quarters of a mile. The cemetery itself is about a mile down, on the right. Dan Brown Hill Road and Townsend House Cemetery Road are unpaved, but usually well maintained. The historical marker is within the cemetery near the pavilion. Miss the turn and you’ll find yourself in Middle Lake; miss the last square turn before the cemetery and you’ll find yourself in Hancock Lake.
