School Board Approves Promotion and Transfers, Tampa Tribune, May 6, 2009, by Ronnie Blair

The Pasco County School Board gave approval Tuesday to a series of job transfers or promotions that will put new principals at three schools.

The principals and their schools are Steven Van Gorden at Zephyrhills High, Lee-Anne Yerkey at Sunray Elementary and Yvonne Reins at Cox Elementary.

Van Gorden, who has been principal at Hudson Middle since 2004, is succeeding Gerri Painter, who is retiring at Zephyrhills High. His job change takes effect Tuesday.

Van Gorden began his career in Pasco in 1997 as a teacher at Pasco Middle and Pasco High. In 2000, he was promoted to assistant principal at Land O’ Lakes High, and in 2001 he became assistant principal at Hudson Middle.

He has a bachelor’s degree in social science from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Saint Leo University.
