Famous Residents Exhibits

West Pasco County and New Port Richey have been home to many famous residents through the years. In the time immediately following the founding of New Port Richey, when some dreamed the city would become the “Hollywood of the East”, movie stars and writers flocked to the city. The most famous of these was probably silent film star Thomas Meighan. During the same time period, golfer Gene Sarazen also lived here.

In later years, West Pasco became a winter home for Johnny Cash and his wife June Carter Cash. Astronaut James Irwin – one of few who have walked on the moon – also was a resident.
